Founder: Jason Chan
For many years, Jason served as a producer for Universal specializing in web marketing, visitor statistical analysis, layout, content, and usability. His work included contributions to large projects such as Jurassic Park, and E.T. While there, he honed his skills on interface usability and how to guide visitors through a website to achieve a desired action.
In May 2008, Jason graduated from the University of San Diego, School of Law. While attending law school, Jason founded Eastern Leaf in 2004. In between reading legal texts, writing papers, and studying for exams, he found the time with his wife to sit at local open air markets and sell lucky bamboo arrangements. It wasn’t until he decided to create an e-commerce store did the company take off. With little more than $2,000 used to start the company, Eastern Leaf has expanded to annual sales reaching up to one million dollars.
While the workings of a large company, statistics, and usability have helped him learn how to convert visitors, his own experiences starting a business with minimal capital have helped him gain an understanding of the other challenges that many entrepreneurs face.
Together with a network of talented graphic artists and coders, Built-Designs was started to help other e-commerce entrepreneurs hurdle those challenges and realize their ideas.
